It is usually mounted on a wall in the basement, garage, or utility closet. In my experience the tech will resolve about 95% of trouble with 5% chance that another tech will be needed likely on a different (future) day. There are many possible causes for RED ALARM light including LOW light condition which is more common with bad SC connection. An AT&T service box is a device that is used to connect a home to the AT&T internet system. if issue is pulled connection at PFP, drop, inside wiring, or ONT the tech should be able to resolve. If good light at PFP but poor or none at the fiber terminal is creating a work order for outside plant tech to find and repair. * damaged fiber drop from animal(s) or human cutting the fiber from digging, or nature (storms, tree limbs, etc)įor a tech the 4 main points of checking light with a light meter and or ruby red is the ONT, the fiber NID (if installed), fiber terminal, PFP. * if have fiber NID, issue with either fiber end or coupler including ants in the NID * faulty ONT requiring replacement, this would be the step if fiber light is good at ONT but not detected by ONT. My questions: How sensitive is the fiber I am going to be having this issue a lot I work from home and need a solid working connection so I am already thinking of converting to non fiber. So ATT has to send a tech out which will take two days. There are many possible causes for RED ALARM light including LOW light condition which is more common with bad SC connection. Next day my internet connection is dead and I find the Alarm light Red on the fiber in home unit.
